Here to HELP

We started Higher Education Licensure Pros LLC (HELP) because together we have the knowledge, experience, and skills to help colleges and universities better support students seeking a professional license. We aim to unravel and demystify professional licensure requirements, so that no student graduates unable to be licensed.

Co-founders and Principals, Kris Maul, JD, and Nan Kalke, PhD, and Communications Principal Bethany Snyder, MPP, all highly value education and the role it plays in strengthening communities. Licensed professionals play a critical role in serving their communities and we want to help put more of those professionals in the field. We understand how difficult it can be to feel confident that a program meets the requirements for a professional license or certification.

HELP is here to provide research, compliance reviews, resource creation, and communication support to students, program leads, faculty, administration, and higher education compliance professionals.

Why now? HELP is needed now because of two events that occurred in 2020:

  1. The coronavirus pandemic is forcing colleges and universities to cut back resources

  2. U. S. Department of Education professional licensure-related regulation became effective July 1, 2020.

Academic institutions have a mandate to act, and we are ready to help.

Kris and Nan met while working for Capella University. Kris was in a position of helping academic programs and students learn and address licensure requirements. Nan was in a position of helping academic programs and students learn and address accreditation requirements. Our work frequently intersected as professional licensure requirements are often tied to specialized accreditations.

At Capella University, and the other institutions we have supported over the years, we worked closely with members of the faculty, school leaders, central university teams, students, and external groups (advisory boards, accrediting agencies, state licensing boards) to provide training; facilitate discussions and working groups; and to listen to their feedback and input. Bethany brings extensive communications and design expertise to our firm.

We are excited to work with students, colleges, and universities to provide the professional licensure help needed!
